My usual flow for pasting a screenshot was Command+Shift+5, wait for the preview to appear in the corner, open it, then copy.

Today I learned that Control+Shift+Command+4 lets you select an area and copies the screenshot directly to your clipboard.

No need of saving a file or preview it. Just paste and you are good to go.
